Matt S
Bass Lake (14) (MN)
Matt S reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Daiwa Tatula XT Spinning Rods on Bass Lake (14). Additional comments from this report: "A few fish were up shallow, in 3-5 ft of water near docks. Not a lot of numbers yet, the water is still a bit too cold. Only saw one bed with a male on it. Tried a few other techniques, but wacky rig was the best option."

Reported by
Simi
Chisago Lake (MN)
Simi reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Daiwa Tatula XT Spinning Rods on Chisago Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The bass were not hitting any moving baits. The cold weather that transitioned to warm next day pushed fish back out a little deeper. 6 to 8 feet produced bigger fish. Any visual targets. Wood specifically. Was a good target. "

Reported by
Bjorn the Bassin Assassin
Lake Volney (MN)
Bjorn the Bassin Assassin reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Daiwa Tatula XT Spinning Rods on Lake Volney. Additional comments from this report: "The bass were shallow, between 1-5'. I found them under tree overhangs, under docks, and within 10' of shore. There's a thick blanket of emerging vegetation at 3-9' water. Once you get inside that it opens up a bit, making the wacky approach easier. The water is very clear. "
Shimano Expride B Spinning Rods
$279.99 – $309.99
Reported by
Phelptwan
Kalamazoo Lake (MI)
Phelptwan reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Shimano Expride B Spinning Rods on Kalamazoo Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Water had cooled down a lot due to weather and was about 72°F when we went out and cooled down to about 68°F by the time we got off the water. Wind was pretty nuts anywhere from 15-20mph for most of the night. I'll be honest, coangler and I really sucked tonight and should have had 5 good keepers but ended up with two. He had a huge smallie slip a ned and I popped two big large mouths off on the wacky rig. I put one 1.5lb in the boat early on a rat-l-trap, and then caught a few small ones on a trap. I had a number of other small ones on the wacky and a big pike on a spinner. Put one more in the boat around 9:00 on a wacky. Overall it seemed the bass were holding to the scum/weed lines and targeting the pockets in the grass was where I got most of the bites. Bits usually came right as I popped the bait out of the grass. To be brutally honest though, we spent most of the night fighting the current and the wind. It was hard to stay on any points and it ended with us spending most of our time fishing the areas out of the wind trying to find a bit of cover. "

The Chub King
Shadow Lake (NJ)
The Chub King reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Shimano Expride B Spinning Rods on Shadow Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Bass Cant Resist the Wacky Rigged Senko. I have fished this lake for over 20 years now and you have to be prepared to get snagged here and there and deliver some pinpoint casts if you want to have consistent success. Was able to squeeze out a limit skipping a senko into downed trees and under overhanging trees. The lake has some big fish but I didn't find any. The water was still cold in the end of March at around 49 degrees. The expride and senko was magic though. Get into that cover and let it marinate fishing real slow has always worked well here the last few years."

Reported by
GritJ
Wharton Brook State Park (CT)
GritJ reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and Shimano Expride B Spinning Rods on Wharton Brook State Park. Additional comments from this report: "Went to Wharton Brook mid-day when the sun was high but the fish were still very active. Lots of bluegill around and the bass were jumping everywhere. The water is very shallow and clear so you can see a lot of the structure in the water where the bass like to hang out. I started out with Texas Rigged 3" Fat Senkos in Black and Green Pumpkin casting out to those areas with the structure and letting it sink. If I didn't get a bite on the initial fall down I would reel in the senko until it was above the next area of structure and let it sink again. Spot fishing was also very good so if I saw a fish jump out of the water I would cast to it and usually it would bite. I also tried Wacky Rigged 4" Senkos which caught me the most fish. I ended up with 7 bass in about 2.5 hours."

Seth Akenson reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and St. Croix Victory Spinning Rods on Lake Koronis. Additional comments from this report: "Water temps were 61-63 degrees and some fish were on beds but some may have slid back out since air temps were in the 40s Saturday night. We threw Bladed jigs over vegetation and slowed down with wacky worms when we located fish. We let the worms soak and set the hook when we felt a little weight. Bites were very light. Looks for bays with vegetation and warmer water"
