Michael Rekas
Lake of the Isles (MN)
Michael Rekas reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and St. Croix Mojo Bass Casting Rods - EOL on Lake of the Isles. Additional comments from this report: "Got on a bit of an unexpected frog bite this weekend. The pad fields that were too thick to fish a frog through this summer are now very sparse. These pads were perfect for a popping frog. The fish were concentrated on the pads and if you can find pads with laydowns nearby that was even better. Besides location, fish the frog just like you would during the summer. For more info on how I do that check out my other Lake of the Isles fishing report on summer frogging. Take advantage of this bite while you can it will be gone quick!"

JLieu
Cedar Lake (76) (MN)
JLieu reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and St. Croix Mojo Bass Casting Rods - EOL on Cedar Lake (76). Additional comments from this report: "When lakes give you lily pads, what do you do? You go frogging, of course! Following up on my previous visit, I came back with some fun frog gear to give it a go today. It paid off with exciting Michael Bay-esque explosions and blowups! Lost a few due to being impatient on the hook set, but it was still an outstanding day. Tons of nooks and crannies filled with lily pads and surface weeds here. In fact, I'd probably recommend a nice pitching/flipping rig as well for even more options. Enjoy the summer topwater! "

Brandon Garrett
Fish Lake (46) (MN)
Brandon Garrett reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and St. Croix Mojo Bass Casting Rods - EOL on Fish Lake (46). Additional comments from this report: "Fish lake can be super fun, and Tuesday evening July 5th, it was just that. So many frog bites so little time! It was mostly calm and lightly raining. Storms and lightning were around but miles away. Some bites came near openings in the lily pads or near wood, but the key to the better size and numbers of bass was to keep the frog quickly walking over the submerged vegetation that was just touching the surface of the water. This was deeper than the pads, more like 4' of water. Only pausing the frog for a half second every half dozen twitches was enough to give them time to crush it. I usually fish the frog with much longer pauses and work more slowly, but the bass apparently weren't on board with that program. They wanted it moving! "
Daiwa Tatula XT Casting Rods
$109.99

Reported by
JoshZ
Little Stanchfield Lake (MN)
JoshZ reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and Daiwa Tatula XT Casting Rods on Little Stanchfield Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Sunny calm day the bass were shallow under cover. Frogs seem to be the key"

Reported by
Ryan Brandel
Great Northern Lake (MN)
Ryan Brandel reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and Daiwa Tatula XT Casting Rods on Great Northern Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The Horseshoe Chain is a tough place to fish midsummer, as the majority of the lake is covered in cheese. If you're not chasing those elusive smallmouth offshore, you almost have to go frog for largemouth, which is exactly what we did. There's not a better frog on the market than a Spro Midnight Walker. Grab some while they're in!"

M T reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Frogs/Toads technique and St. Croix Victory Casting Rods on Lake Minnetonka. Additional comments from this report: "Outing was on 6/7/2025. Sunny calm morning on Tonka. Water temps were in the upper 60's to low 70's. Mostly fished the west side of the lake. Sunfish were up shallows, so tried to stick shallow. Caught some frog fish up shallow around panfish and slop. Also had good luck around docks with senkos in pumpkinseed color with chartruese highlight tip. No bigguns, but plenty of action."
