The river enters the lake through a culvert on the north end and exits into a channel on the south connecting to Wright Lake. Follow this smallmouth superhighway and you’ll find fish located on structure throughout. Wild Rice on this lake especially. "

Additional comments from this report: "Just returned from a kayak event on Wilson Lake and finished in the top 10. The fish are shallow! Most of my bites came in less than 1 FOW which is crazy considering the summer water temps. The fish seem to be related to islated pockets/coves off the main river channel. Locating pockets with bank grass, submerged buck brush, and bait was key to locating the fish. I started the day throwing a choppo along the shoreline. I chased the shadow lines from bluff banks for as long as I could. Once the sun was high, I transitioned to swimming a thunder cricket above the submerged buck brush and tight to the bank grass. Bone color worked best for the choppo. Darker colors worked best for the thunder cricket regardless of water clarity. You will get a lot of bites in the buck brush. However, covering ground was key to locating multiple big fish throughout the day. "
