11/08/2021. Mostly cloudy. Water temp 49 to 51 degrees. With my boat in about 10-12 ft of water on the north shore I found coon-tail that's still green. With blade baits I was able to catch bass with stop-and-go retrieve - cranking 4-5 seconds then dropping down to hit the weeds, and repeating.

The large mouth had just barely big to go into the shallow channels and we’re unresponsive to any lures. I ended up finding the Bass on Main Lake rock piles schooled up thick with pre spawn smallmouth! I caught a few on a Vision 110+2 in perch (walleye liked that a lot more than the smallmouth did and I think they were spawning). Almost all of my smallmouth came on the blade bait fished very slow with a spinning rod. Simply make a long cast and let it fall to the bottom then make short hops about 2ft off bottom and the fish would strike on the fall. What a fun way to catch them! "
