Omnia Fishing
John H. Kerr Reservoir (NC, VA)
Omnia Fishing reported catching Crappie using the Bobbers technique and Pflueger President Spinning Reel on John H. Kerr Reservoir. Additional comments from this report: "Pre-spawn is a great time of year to intercept schools of crappie moving from their wintering holes to the backs of creeks where they will spawn. Using a slip bobber is key so you can set the appropriate depth since the fish will be suspended as they move through. "
Pflueger President XT Spinning Reel

Kail’s Fishing Reports
Sugar Lake (MN)
Early Gill Fishing is some of the most fun all season, locate some Bull Rushes and start fishing the outside edges and move in as you follow the bite. Tip your jig with small leaches, worms, or corn. I like using the weighted bobbers as they cast like a rocket and takes less pressure to pull down. Good Luck
Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reel
$99.99 – 109.99

Reported by
BraffFish
Upper Jeptha Lake (MI)
BraffFish reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Bobbers technique and Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reel on Upper Jeptha Lake. Additional comments from this report: "4-26-2021. Bluegill have started to move onto the shallow flats and beds are beginning to appear. Lots of small gills being caught on wax worms with floats and jigs. No gills worth keeping yet. The bigger bluegill have not moved in. Jeptha has been hit hard with fisherman taking everything they catch and over their limit of bluegill many times so the bluegill population over the years has definitely gotten smaller. DNR was aware so come on guys practice catch and release! Big gills are deep and seem to be staying there. "

Aaron
Herrington Lake (KY)
Aaron reported catching Panfish / Bluegill using the Bobbers technique and Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reel on Herrington Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Kids had a fun time catching a lot of bluegills from the pontoon, kayak and dock. They had to sort through many scrappy smaller fish to find the quality size gills. The shady areas of docks and main lake bluff walls were the primary locations. Vertical jigging or casting a float and jig to the dropoffs or shaded areas proved to be the most consistent presentation. Great way to get young kids hooked on fishing!"

From right after ice out tell mid May, fish the channels they start to warm up first. Look for ones that are small and are where the sun shines on them all day, they will warm up first, also ones with wood dock posts that is a big plus, crappies love hanging around wood. Cast around the dock, dock posts, under the docks, each day is different and they move around. Watch your electronics, pay close attention to your surface temp as you are scouting or catching fish to see what they like. Tip your jig with a minnow or a plastic. On Minnetonka the crappies love pink and white. I like the Thill weighted bobbers, you need less weight for the fish to pull it down and they cast further.
