Kail’s Fishing Reports
Mille Lacs Lake (MN)
Kail’s Fishing Reports reported catching Walleye using the Vertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19') technique and Pflueger President Spinning Reel on Mille Lacs Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Fishing the first break, jig and minnow early season. Minne Lacs is very clear, fish away from the boat either by casting and pitching or jig trolling. What I mean by jig trolling is cast your jig away from the boat and trolling with your electric motor and just keep bouncing your jig and keep it moving. I like to use a braid and tie a 5'-8' piece of mono to the braid and attach the mono to the jig. If you are getting bite short attach a stinger hook to your jig. Tip your jig with a minnow, leach or 1/2 crawler. Keep checking the last couple feet of line for nicks, the zebra mussels are very sharp on the bottom."
Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reel
$99.99 – 109.99

Reported by
Ray Valley
Lake Saint Croix (MN, WI)
Ray Valley reported catching Walleye using the Vertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19') technique and Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reel on Lake Saint Croix. Additional comments from this report: "Relatively slow bite for the Wisconsin Opener (although the St. Croix opened up one week earlier). Water temperatures were 50-55 degrees and warming fast with the light switch of a cold La Nina spring and summer seeming to flip overnight. As such, the bite will likely change day by day, so what I say here now, will likely be different tomorrow. Still, although fishing was slow, we picked up a couple nice fish along a current seam in a channel just north of the I94 bridge in Hudson. Pink glitter 1/4 oz jig with a fathead minnow was the ticket."
