Joe Drowns
Guntersville Lake (AL)
Joe Drowns reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Lipless Crankbaits technique and Shimano Curado DC Casting Reel on Guntersville Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Winter has made its way to Lake Guntersville. Heavy wind and rain have stained and muddied up the water over the past week. Still chasing the grass lines for my bites.. Finding clearer water and healthy grass was the key. Bait contact with the grass is still producing the best reactions. Ripping the Duckett trap out of the grass with the new Wheeler Select series rods. I'm really enjoying the action on the 7'4 MH rod. Sensitive enough to feel the grass with enough back bone to really rip the bait when needed. The moderate action in this rods really helps keep the fish pinned and allows me to just reel into them without worry of ripping the bait out of their mouths."

Shimano Metanium MGL Casting Reel
$489.99
Reported by
Phelptwan
Saddle Lake (MI)
Phelptwan reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Lipless Crankbaits technique and Shimano Metanium MGL Casting Reel on Saddle Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Tournament started at 5:30pm, water temp was 75° and the wind was sitting right around 5mph. Water clarity was about 2-3 feet. Bluebird sky's and barely a cloud. We started off frogging and picked up our first keeper pretty quickly that ended up being big bass for the night as well. We were targeting shallow pads and watching for swirls/moving pads/pops/etc. Caught some more dinks, but ultimately decided to move on. We hit the banks for a bit and managed to catch another keeper for the night right off a dock/pontoon near a drop off on a wacky worm. Fishing slow got boring so I started ripping a lipless through the submerged vegetation pretty much as fast as I could reel and put two more keepers in the boat back to back. Co-angler lost a pretty big one on a drop shot, but boated one that was on the line to fill our bag. We hit that bank for a bit longer and caught some dinks but nothing to cull out the small one. Pulled up and went to the other side of the lake and initially tried to fish the banks but got no love. Went into 3-5' of water and managed to get on some more dinks and culled up a couple oz's with some slow moving baits. We decided to pull to the outside of the weedline and started ripping the rat-l-trap again and managed to catch some more dinks, but finally culled out the smallest bass shortly before we headed back to the launch. Tournament Results- 1st - 10.8lbs 2nd - 9.83lbs - us 3rd - 8.84lbs Big Bass - 3.01lbs - us"

The fish are schooling on shad very heavily from 5-8 am after that you will need to drag a jig in 25 feet to get a bite with the water temp being 98+ degrees when the sun comes up that being said the Shad spawn bite is unreal expect to the throw a shad shape and hold on. There’s a bunch of 13” fish with the occasional 5+ mixed in follow the birds and the bait you can’t miss it."
