Reported by
OctoberHouses

Shirey Bay (AR)

OctoberHouses reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Popping) technique and Shimano Curado MGL 150 Casting Reel on Shirey Bay. Additional comments from this report: "The water temperature was a warm 83°F, with a tanic clarity that made for interesting fishing conditions. Despite the pesky mosquitoes, the fishing was fantastic, especially with top water lures. The fish were aggressively hitting anything on the surface, making for an exciting day. Poppers and walking baits were particularly effective, providing explosive strikes that made the mosquito bites almost bearable. The best times to fish were early morning and late evening, and using a medium to fast action rod helped with better control and hook sets with the top water lures. "

Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel - EOL

$249.99 – $259.99

Reported by
Phelptwan

Klinger Lake (MI)

Phelptwan reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Popping) technique and Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel - EOL on Klinger Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Dead calm waters when we launched. Started the day hitting the water with a Shimano Flashboost Popper and a Baby PopX. Did pretty well with both. Once the sun came out and the water started to get warmer the top water bite dried up. Not much vegetation or cover in the lake, but where we found vegetation we found bass. They were sitting in 5-7' of water most of the time we were there (outside of the morning top water bite). Once it got windy, we were only hitting fish on the drop shot and then eventually we found some under docks on the wacky rig. Had a lot of them following a 6" Cull Shad, but couldn't get any to commit. No real significant catches, but we would have ended the day with a full bag."

Reported by
Tim Miles

Smith Mountain Lake (VA)

Tim Miles reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Hard Topwater (Popping) technique and Shimano Vanford Spinning Reel - EOL on Smith Mountain Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Fished throughout the lack and found fish in various stages of the spawn. The most aggressive fish were post-spawn and chasing shallow bluegill around stumps, rocks, and docks. Best bite came late afternoon after showers left the area and the sun began to shine."
