Norris Lake (TN)

Omnia Fishing reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Drop Shot technique and Daiwa Tatula LT Spinning Reel - EOL on Norris Lake. Additional comments from this report: "During this time of year Smallmouth will start to move out of their wintering holes. A key place they will stop before the spawning transition are main lake points between the deep main lake basin and spawning areas. "

Reported by
JP

Raystown Lake (PA)

Fish were holding on the steep bluff walls in their summer pattern and drop shot was the key. Had multiple big largemouth and smallmouth eat it on the fall. The Daiwa Rebellion 7-0ML is a fantastic drop shot rod with the perfect power and action for this technique.

Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel

$224.99

Reported by
Adam Radovic

Lake St Clair (MI)

Adam Radovic reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Drop Shot technique and Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel on Lake St Clair. Additional comments from this report: "Hot water temps have pushed the Smallmouth into full Summer pattern. Productive depths averaged 16-18ft. Isolated vegetation held groups of similar sized fish, competition was low between fish, and fishing pressure was high. Moving to 1/4oz from 3/8oz unlocked some bites."

Reported by
Jeff Penner

Lake Erie

Jeff Penner reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Drop Shot technique and Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel on Lake Erie. Additional comments from this report: "Got em on a dropshot up shallow during the post spawn. Lots of smallmouth roam the shallow sand flats with scattered rock when the conditions allow. Using a GLF Dropkick Shad was the right bait to get em to bite"

Reported by
Christopher Thuss

Lake Michigan (IL, IN, MI, WI)

Christopher Thuss reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Drop Shot technique and Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reel on Lake Michigan. Additional comments from this report: "Lake Michigan smallmouth along the Wisconsin coast have set up out deep on glacial deposits offshore and along man-made breakwalls. There has been a ton of alewife around all year long so baitfish colors like the Flatworm in brown back have been killer. I like to thread the flatworm onto a Roboworm Rebarb hook to help the bait sit more horizontally in the water column. Long drops between the hook and weight (18-24”) also are important as these baitfish eating smallmouth tend to suspend off the bottom a bit and are use to feeding upwards. Utilizing your electronics while fishing deep is crucial to making precise casts and keep your bait in front of fish! This bite should continue on into the winter months and only get better!"
